When I was about eight, and visiting an old family graveyard in Mississippi, I fell into a grave, at dusk! Yep. "Six feet under". I was traumatized and did not go near a cemetery for decades!
Sometime after our mother died, because I am "tenacious and have an eye for detail", my sister asked me to research the women on mother's side of the family. What started as a request became a passion of "honoring those that came before us."
I now spend time walking through old cemeteries, and I feel a peace there that I can't explain. I fulfill photo requests, manage memorials and add flowers where there are none. Everyone deserves to be remembered.
