Hello,
I was reared in Wright City Oklahoma and attended school there. Growing up in the area I knew a lot of families and had many school friends. My mom and dad would take us kids on Memorial Day to the local cemeteries to care for family graves. I always admired the stone work and dates on the monuments. Moving to Durant Ok to attend college I had a course that was required to develop a family genealogy and that set in motion my love for researching through cemetery records. While living in the Bryan, Marshall, Johnson area for 20 years, I enjoyed walking through the cemeteries and taking pictures of stones and unique sayings. Then I found Find A Grave and my work begin.
I only take pictures. I do not research. I enjoy the hunt and helping families to see the graves site of their loved ones. I am not a professional. I will post markers and try to go back to see if new stones have been set. I moved back to McCurtain County 8 years ago when my son died. Last year during the Covid crisis I decided to pick back up the my favorite pass time.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of an amazing process of remembering your loved one. Cordially, Lea Dora Brown-Briley
