Ernest Clemmer

Ernest R. Clemmer, 86, self-employed building contractor since 1946, died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Fred McNab officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Clemmer was born in Callahan County and grew up in Hamby. He married Irene Gooch in 1934 in Hamby and moved to Abilene that year from Hamby.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Frances Carson and Ernestine "Tina" Nelson, both of Abilene; five brothers, Elvie Clemmer of Monahans, R.E. Clemmer of Merkel, Floyd Clemmer and Cloise Clemmer, both of Abilene, and Don Clemmer of Andrews; two sisters, Nita Boyd of Rosenburg and Verna Jo Gabbard of Abilene; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
