Vernon E. Fowler Dies

Vernon E. Fowler, Rt. 2, Emporia, farmer and stockman, died Monday evening at 6 o'clock in St. Mary's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held in the Roberts-Blue chapel at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Pitts, pastor of the First Friends church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.

Mr. Fowler was born July 2, 1918, in Emporia, the son of Jack and Almeda Joy Fowler. He married Ethel Uhl in Emporia, December 8, 1940. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Patrica Ann, of the home; his parents, and two brothers, Willard W. Fowler, Humboldt, and Jackie Fowler, Rt. 2, Emporia.

Mr. Fowler was a former member of Company B, National Guard. He served during World War II, and he is a member of the Ball-McColm post of the American Legion.

The Fowler Services

Funeral services for Vernon R. Fowler, Rt. 2, Emporia, who died in St. Mary's hospital Monday, were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Roberts-Blue chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Pitts, pastor of the First Friends church, conducted the services. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Piper sang, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Plummer. Pallbearers were Cleo Jacobs, Floyd Rice, Jean Nicklin, Newton F. Wilson, Lloyd McIlvain, and William T. Haun, Burial was in Memorial Lawn.

Out-of-town persons attending were Clark Fowler, Donald H. Fowler, Lamar, Colo.; Mrs. Gale W. Kelley, Wichita; Rosemary Longwith, Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Levi, Kansas City, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Fowler, Humboldt; James Ryan, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Thompson, Kansas City, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. Keith V.
