Orville G. Garvin, 85, Brunswick, died Feb. 20, 1995 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born Aug. 15, 1909 near Brunswick, the son of Cyrus and Nellie (Gordon) Garvin. On Oct 10, 1931 he married Irene Syler, who preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1993. He had lived in the Brunswick area all of his life and was employed as a carpenter and farmer before his retirement. He was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Gerlt, Fayette; a daughter-in-law, Doris Garvin, Brunswick; two sisters, Ruby Unternaehrer and Neva Ponitz, bot of Brunswick; seven grandchildrren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Gerald Garvin, a granddaughter, Joy Lynne Garvin, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 22 at the Heisel & Koch Chapel in Brunswick under the direction of the Heisel & Koch Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Grimes officiating. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick.

Pallbearers were Dennis Gerlt, Gordon Gerlt, David Sprague, Gary Blakemore, Jerry Lee Garvin, James Garvin and Jackie Garvin.

Memorials were suggested to the Leukemia Society.
