Daughter of Cyrus D Garvin and Nellie Gordon, she married Kenneth C Ponitz in 1944 in Brunswick,Chariton,Missouri. He had attended Kirksville (MO) College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduation he had set up a practice in Pigeon MI. Neva and her sister Ruth were public school teachers in Pigeon before the marriage. He died young (age 36) in Lansing MI. Note: Ancestry.com has photos of her on the Brunswick MO HS faculty, teaching remedial math in 1981-1982.
