Mr. Herl died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born March 16, 1937, in Hays, the son of Alois and Mary (Wolf) Herl.
Mr. Herl was a machinist. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He married Donna Rein on Nov. 24, 1962, at Great Bend. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Michael, Scott and Brian, all of Lawrence; two daughters, Kerrie Pennay Herl, Eudora, and Kimberly Spini, Lane; a brother, Joe, Gardner; three sisters, Viola Schmidt, Delphos, Edna Sander, Richmond, Mo., and Frieda Winters, Olathe; and nine grandchildren.
A son, Mark Alan Herl, died Dec. 22, 1990.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorials to the Harold J. Herl Memorial Fund, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home.
