Services for Kenneth A. Amick, Jr., 79, will be conducted at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Nazareth Luth. Ch. Cem. Fund, 1800 Nazareth Ch. Rd, Lexington, SC 29072 or Harmony Care Hospice, 121 Hunters Village Dr., Suite H, Irmo, SC 29063.
Born in Lexington County (Gilbert), he was a son of the late Kenneth A. Amick Sr. and Popie C. Amick. He was retired from law Enforcement serving 23 years with the Lexington County Sheriffs' Department. He was a life long member of Nazareth Lutheran Church having served as asst. S.S. Supt., church council, Sunday School teacher and member of the Lutheran Men. Mr. Amick was a Korean War Veteran, a member of SC Law Enforcement Association, Fraternal Order of Police and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving are his wife, Donna K. Amick, daughters, Lisa Kay Amick of Gilbert, Jackie (Martin) Oxner and Deborah (Mike) Smith of Leesville, son, K. Rhett (Rick) Amick of Gilbert, brothers, J. Rembert Amick of Leesville, Harold L. Amick of Gaston, Darryl Amick of Gilbert, and Dennis Knight of West Columbia, sister, Betty Crout of Gilbert, former sister-in-law, Vonnie Knight of West Columbia, 4 grandchildren including a special grandson, Zachary Amick, who loved his pappa daddy and his best friend, Milo Miller. He was predeceased by a brother, Alton K. "Pete" Amick.
