Elizabeth Jane Eddy was born on Decmeber 8, 1849 in New Matamoras, Washington County, Ohio. She was the 7th of eleven children born to Goin and Sarah (Haught) Eddy.

She grew up with her siblings in Grandview Township, Washington County, Ohio.

She married Joseph Haught, son of Levi and Martha Malinda (Haught) Haught, on May 5, 1870 in Washington County, Ohio.

Together they had 7 children: Jesse (1872-), Richard Coleman (1873-1936), Martha (1878-1931), Levi (1879-1887), Jackson (1881-1970), William Ray (1886-1852) and Syntha (1891-).

She died at her residence on November 30, 1894, following a battle with Breast Cancer. At the time of her death she was survived by her husband of 24 years, three sons, one daughter and six brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and two brothers.

She is buried with her husband at Long Reach Cemetery in Tyler County, West Virginia.
