Deserted Oct. 7, 1862 in Perryville, KY with rank of Private. Notes: Wounded in neck at Shiloh Apr. 6, 1862, and sent to Cairo, IL, then to Simonsf General Hospital in Mound City, IL. Deserted Oct. 7, 1862, from camp near Perryville, KY, while in face of the enemy; left gun and accouterments. Married Arrena Weirich 1866. John H. Died Nov. 6, 1917 at Churubusco, Whitley Co., IN and buried in Christian Chapel Cemetery in Noble Co., IN.
