Arthur "Art" Downs, age 83, died at Golden Living Center on October 1, 2012. He was born on October 28, 1928 at Molt, Montana to Glen and Clara (Hanneman) Downs. He married Dorothy Sunde at Madison on January 30, 1949. He is survived by his wife - Dorothy of Madison. Two sons - Mike (Kathy) of Madison and Tim of Sioux Falls. 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Daughter in law - Carla Downs. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers - Roy and Melvin, son - Bill in 2010 and daughter in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 5, 2012 at United Methodist Church with Rev Conrad Krahling officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. He moved to a farm north of Madison at age 2 and farmed there all of his life. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1947. They moved into Madison in 1980. He drove cars for Prostrollo Motors for 20 years. He was a member of the Madison Elks. He was also served on the Board of CENEX and Lake County ASC. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
