Mary Davis was the daughter of Matthew Davis and Eunice Delaney. She married Adam Gaston in Pulaski Co., Kentucky, March 1, 1850, and they moved to Indiana in the late 1850s, along with Mary's parents and several Davis siblings. Matthew Davis was last reported on census in 1870; and Eunice (Delaney) Davis was last enumerated in 1880.

The body of Mrs. Mary Gaston, aged 77 years, who died of paralysis at Indianapolis Saturday, was taken to Jonesville and buried there Monday afternoon. She was a grandmother of Mrs. Ed Hall, of near Walesboro. Mrs. Hall's sister, Miss Clara Bess, is critically ill of appendicitis at her home in Indianapolis. She has been ill for four weeks, and it is feared that she will not recover.
