Mrs. Marilla Ladd Pioneer Resident of Fruto is Dead
WILLOWS, Jan. 11- Mrs. Marilla Ladd, 75, native of Michigan and a resident of the Fruto district of Glenn County for the past 18 years, died last night in a hospital here.
Mrs. Ladd came across the plains with her parents when a year old and settled in Sacramento county. A few months later the family moved to Tehama county, residing west of Corning, later moving to the Fruto district.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Dan Hanks and Mrs. Guy Gooch, Cedarville; Almor [Almer], John and Lewis Ladd, Fruto; Mrs. Elmer Oakes, Paskenta; Mrs. Corbett Miles, Chico; Mrs. O. P. Burnett, address unknown, and Leonard Ladd of Willows.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Sweet Funeral Home with Rev. H. S. Saxby officiating. – Transcribed by M.
Note that three of Marilla's sons, Louis, Leonard and Almer, are also buried in the Willows Cemetery. Son John and his wife, Alice, are buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, Butte Co., CA. Daughter Rhoda Gooch and her husband, Guy, died in Modoc Co.
