She came to America with her parents in 1858, locating at Palermo, near Wathena, Kansas. Services were held at the Wathena German Methodist Church after her death on April 24, 1916. Interment was at Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas. Henrietta was married March 3, 1862, at the home of her parents to John Frederick Meidinger, the son of John and Catherine Meidinger. He was born October 27, 1834, in Wurtemberg, Germany, and died July 20, 1918, at Hiawatha, Kansas.
The Christel and Meidinger families came to America from the port of Bremen, Germany, on the ship Republic with the Christel family. Though they were from widely separated parts of Germany, they sailed on the same ship and settled near each other in Doniphan County, Kansas. They were listed as follows on the ship's passenger list:

The mother, Catherine, is said to be buried at Rosedale Cemetery in Doniphan Co., Kansas, while John died at Hiawatha, Ks., and was buried there. Henrietta and John Frederick had eight children.
