She was the daughter of Walter William Whitescarver (1855-1916) and Sarah Ann Babb (1861-1955), who were married in Kansas on May 12, 1878. Stella married her first husband, Theodore Antone Johannes Bethje (1857-1936), at Stockton, San Joaquin County, California, on August 18, 1899. They had three children, and were later divorced. Stella subsequently remarried three more times, first to George Benjamin Corbin, second to Robert Leslie Hudson, and third to Thomas A. Morrissey, and died at 76.

Rites Set for Mrs. Morrissey

Mrs. Stella Morrissey, 76, of 2525 E. Poplar, died early today in a local hospital after an illness of about a month. Coroner's deputies said Morrissey suffered from a heart ailment. A native of Kansas, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Miller of Stockton and Mrs. Genevieve Russell of Berkeley; a son, George W. Corbin of Madera; and a brother and sister, J. C. Whitescarver and Ann Mack, both of South San Francisco. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Latimer officiating. Interment will be at Rural Cemetery.
