From the Owatonna (MN) People's Press, February 1, 1889:

Mr. Thorsen Nelson, of Havana, died at the residence of his son, T.T. Nelson, Esq., last Saturday, January 26th, at 7:30 o'clock in the evening, after an illness of 5 years and 2 months, during which time he was confined to his bed, aged 84 years, 1 month and 2 days. The funeral services took place last Tuesday about noon and were largely attended. They were conducted by Rev. A. Hough, a Scandinavian Lutheran minister from Winona. Mr. Thorsen Nelson was very highly esteemed by all who knew him. He emigrated to this country in 1861 and has lived in Steele county for the past 22 years.

The first photo MAY be Torsten and Randi Nelson.

Reasons I think this:

1. I think there is a family resemblance, especially between the older man and Nels.

2. Assuming a photo of Torsten and Randi existed, their son Nels likely would have had a copy. Nels lived in his old age with his daughter Olena, so any photos he had likely stayed with her. In her old age, Olena lived with her daughter Ruth, who probably inherited her photos. This photo of the older couple comes from Ruth's collection.

3. I can't think of anyone the age of this couple whose photo is more likely to have come in this collection, and the collection contains no other photos of older people.

The second photo is five of Torsten and Randi's adult children: Standing, left to right: Mary Nelson Johnson, Anna Nelson Lewis. Seated, left to right: Martha Nelson Anderson, Nels Nelson, Thomas T. Nelson

There were two more children in this family. One son, Ole (b. February 8, 1836 in Norway) came to America in 1857 ahead of the rest of the family but I have found no further trace of him. A daughter, Randi, was born October 6, 1838 and died April 11, 1860 in Norway.
