Mrs. Martha Anderson

Funeral and burial services for Mrs. Martha Anderson, 91 years old and for 63 years a resident of the county who died last week Friday morning at the home of her son, Thomas M. Anderson on West Bridge street, were held Sunday at the Aurora Norwegian Lutheran church and the cemetery of the Aurora church. Rev. Mr. Nervig of New Richland officiated.

Death was due to old age. She was born May 2, 18[3]3, in L[æ]rdal, Norway, was married in L[æ]rdal and with her husband came to America to settled first in Goodhue county. Six years later they moved to Steele county and lived on a farm in Havana. Mr. Anderson died 27 years ago. Mrs. Anderson had been a resident of the county for 63 years.

Six children survive her. They are Mrs. Louis Munson of Blooming Prairie, Mrs. Anna Molde, Thomas M. Anderson, Mrs. Iver Mellem and Mrs. Andrew Moe of this city, and Mrs. Edward Erdman of Merton township. Her sister, Mrs. Louis Odegard of this city, 43 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren also survive her.

Funeral Held Today for Aged City Resident; Service for Mrs. Martha Anderson To Be at Noon Today; Family Resided in Havana Township for Many Years

Funeral services will be held today for Mrs. Martha Anderson, 91 year-old resident of this city who passed away at the home of her son, Tom Anderson on west Bridge street last Friday morning. The services will take place at the home in this city this noon at 12 o'clock and at the Norwegian Lutheran church at 1 o'clock. Rev. Nervig of New Richland will be in charge. Mrs. Anderson was born in [Læ]rdal, Norway May 2, 1833, and was married to Mons Anderson, coming to this country with three children and settling down in Goodhue county. Six years later they moved to Steele county and settled down on a farm in Havana township which has been their home until three years ago when Mrs. Anderson and her son moved to this city to reside. Mr. Anderson died twenty-seven years ago.

Surviving Mrs. Anderson are her six children: Mrs. Louis Monsen, of Blooming Prairie; Mrs. Anna Molde, Tom Anderson, Mrs. Iver Mellem and Mrs. Andrew Moe, all of Owatonna, and Mrs. Edward Erdman of Merton. Also forty-three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Louis Odegard of Owatonna.
