OBITUARY: - BEETON, LAWRENCE EDWARD 1936 - 2009 Larry Beeton passed away Dec. 26, 2009 at the age of 73 years in Camrose, AB. He was born May 20, 1936 in Consort to parents Ed and Lena Beeton and was raised on a farm 15 miles south of Czar with seven siblings, one being his twin sister.
At the age of 18, Larry and his brother Lewis traveled to Mason City to attend the Iowa Auctioneer School, then returned to build Hardisty Auction Mart where they held daily and/or weekly sales. In Hardisty is where he met his lifetime sweetheart, Joyce Voros. Larry and Joyce were married Nov. 22, 1957. They owned and operated a number of business ventures in their 52 years together. The last one was the Grand Hotel in Fairview where Larry learned to fly his 182 Cessna. After selling the hotel in 1973 they rented an apartment in Sherwood Park and began travelling.
In 1977 they purchased a home in Mesa, Arizona to get away from the cold Alberta winters. Larry will be greatly missed by his wife Joyce; twin sister Lorraine (Wilf) Carter; brother Lewis; sisters Edna Pyke, Evelyn (Bob) Gilmer; sisters-in-law Iva Beeton, Elsie Beeton, Doris Beeton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His countless friends will also miss him.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, brothers Gordon, Harold and Walter; brothers-in-law Patrick Kennedy and Wilfred Pyke; and sister-in-law Evelyn Beeton. A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in the New Norway Community Hall.
