L. Grant Hawk and Mrs. Georgetta Knight Butler were married at the home of the brides mother, Mrs. W. S. Knight., Tuesday noon by the Rev. H. L. Sanders, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Mr and Mrs. Hawk will continue to make Effingham their home and expect to spend about half their time on Mr. Hawk's farm north of Effingham.
The New Leaf, Effingham Kansas, 17 Apr 1908, Fri, Page 2

If all our former Effingham people and readers of the New Leaf would take the interest in the paper that Mrs. Georgette Hawk of Colby does, the reading matter would be materially improved upon. We certainly appreciate Mrs. Hawk's thoughtfulness more than we can tell. She submits the following, which will be read with interest by the old timer's: in a recent issue of the New Leaf you mentioned the old Log house on Coal Creek. It interested me as it was my birthplace. On the abstract Jacob Webber received a patent in '57 and in '58 to was sold to Phineas Newton, in '65 to Isaac Harberson, in'70 to my father the late W. S, Knight for $2500. The house is built of black walnut and I suppose before '57 as it had been built a number of years when my father bought the place.

First husband was Silas Butler of Waterville KS., Their daughter was Metta Butler.
