Born May 8, 1927, in Smithshire, Ill., she was the daughter of Creed and Olive Ross Roark. On Dec. 22, 1945, she married Clarence Smith Jr. in Burlington.
Mrs. Smith was a machine operator in the The Hawk Eye newspaper for over 25 years and retired from there.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Roger and Rodney Smith, both of Burlington, and Ronald Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Vicki Kocol of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Roark of Houston, Texas, and Donald Roark of Galesburg, Ill.; six sisters, Mary Martin of Rockford, Ill., Betty Avila of Freemont, Calif., Marlene Cokel of Monmouth, Ill., Margie Hernandez of Galesburg, Ill., Erva Logan of St. Charles, Ill., and Nancy Hoy of Fairhope, Ala.; and seven granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
The funeral for Mrs. Smith will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Mark Schowalter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington.
A memorial has been established to the Les Turner Foundation A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
