Alma Annette Perry, a Southwest Portland resident, died of causes related to age Friday in a Portland care center. A funeral was held Saturday in Ross Hollywood Chapel. Mrs. Perry was 88.

She was born May 1, 1905, in Mount Olive, Ill. Her maiden name was Niemann. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1929 and married Joseph Perry on Nov. 26, 1930. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker. She taught home economics and was girls' basketball coach at Mazon High School in Illinois before moving to the Portland area in 1939.

Mrs. Perry was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school classes for 30 years until 1970. She had been a leader in the 4-H program from 1943 until 1958 and was the recipient of the Chas. J. Weber award in 1950. Her husband died in 1990.

Survivors include her daughters, Joanne Nieswander of Portland and Lorelee Hedlund of Bellevue, Wash.; brother, Roland Niemann of Mount Olive, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her son, Joseph H. Perry III, died in 1933.

Interment was in River View Cemetery.
