MOUNT OLIVE - Roland William Niemann, 91, of Mount Olive died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Heritage Manor in Litchfield.

He was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Mount Olive, the son of William and Bertha Hieronymus Niemann. He married Selma Pauline Fritzsche in 1937 in Mount Olive.

Mr. Niemann graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1931. He worked at Niemann Lumber Co. in Mount Olive and later retired as a machinist from Shell Oil Co. in Wood River after 32 years. In Mount Olive, he was a former Boy Scout leader and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a trustee, building committee chairman and church council member.

Survivors: wife, Selma; a son, Robert (wife, Karen) Niemann of Umatilla, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon (husband, Jerry) Dean and Beverly (husband, Milton) Zoschke, both of Litchfield; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Zion Lutheran Church, Mount Olive, the Rev. George Campbell officiating. Burial: Mount Olive City Cemetery.
