Loyce Blair Scarborough was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Fort Worth. She graduated valedictorian of her class in 1935 in Oklaunion. She worked for Swift & Co. as an accountant with the livestock buyers for 25 years until the plant closed in 1971. She loved her grandchildren and her family immensely, and until her health prevented it, she wrote weekly letters to her brothers and sisters keeping them informed of family news. Before computers she used carbon paper to aid in doing this. She researched genealogy records and cemeteries in several states, tracing both her and her husband's ancestry. Her grandson bought her a computer to help her in her letter writing and genealogy, and, at the age of 70, she learned to use it. She was a member of Castleberry church of Christ for over 60 years and spent all of her life preparing to be with the Lord. She was truly the woman of Proverbs 31. She cared for both her mother and her mother-in-law until their deaths. Her hands were always busy taking meals or sewing clothes for others. We often told her that her back was so stooped because of all the jewels in her crown. The family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice for their wonderful care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Scarborough, and a grandson, Shannon.
