CENTERVILLE -- Ruth Hyde Walton, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2000 at her home.

Ruth was born July 21, 1908 in Kaysville, a daughter of Frank and Winnifred Barnes Hyde. She grew up in Kaysville attending Davis County Schools.

She graduated from Davis High School in 1926. She married Lester Garwood Walton in the Salt Lake Temple on September 19, 1932. They resided in Centerville continuously except for a brief time in Salt Lake City immediately following their marriage. Her major life's work was as a mother and homemaker, raising her three children and helping to raise a niece.

She was active in various local civic and social organizations and worked diligently organizing Centerville City Cemetery records. Ruth served in numerous callings in the Church, including working with the young women, the relief society, and genealogy. Ruth loved to travel and to knit and tat. She tatted hundreds of beautiful bookmarks for family and acquaintances. She enjoyed spending many pleasant hours with friends and family.

She is survived by two sons, Garwood H. (LeAnn) of Logan and Fredrick H. of Centerville; a foster sister, Ann Rigby Reyerson (Ole), Layton; and a niece, Jennifer Hyde Parkey of Las Vegas. Her only daughter, Judith Walton Porter, preceded her in death in 1986. She had, at the time of her passing, seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud.

Services will be held, Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at 12 noon in the Centerville Canyon Ward Chapel, 200 East 100 South, Centerville. Friends may call Monday evening from 6- 8p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
