Margaret L. Mayer, age 93, formerly of Shelby died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at West Bay Care Center, Westlake, Ohio.

She was born June 14, 1915 in Shelby, the daughter of Guss and Julia (Haley) Mayer. Margaret attended St. Mary Grade School and was a graduate of Shelby High School and Mansfield Business College. Miss Mayer worked at the Hoffman Corporation in Los Angeles for 14 years during World War II. She also worked at the Shelby Sales Book and worked for many years at the Mansfield Branch of AAA, from which she retired. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby and the Altar Rosary Society. She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by 19 nieces and nephews; Numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Rev. Alfred Mayer, Judge James J. Mayer, Sr., and Francis A. Mayer a sister, Leonarda Ignat.

Friends may call on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 9:30 AM-10:15 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday January 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating.
