Peter Pinshock, 91, of Palo Alto, passed away Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Llewellyn, Dec. 29, 1920, he was a son of the late Wassel and Eva Pinshock.

He served as a sergeant in the Army from April 1940 to December 1944. He was stationed at the Schofield Barracks in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked by Japan in World War II.

He worked as a brick layer for Becker Construction, Pottsville.

Peter was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta C. Felker Pinshock, on Jan. 17, 1974; a son-in-law, F. Douglas McDonough, in 1995; his twin brother, Paul Pinshock; a brother, John Pinshock; four sisters, Mary Hendrick, Katie Hendrick, Ann Adamitas and Helen Olenick.

Peter is survived by four daughters, June McDonough, Palo Alto, Rosemary Derenzo and her husband, Ronald, Auburn, Susanne Smith and her husband, William, Pottsville, and Diane Riotto and her husband, Joseph, Palo Alto; nine grandchildren, Mark, Tom, Christina, Jason, Jeremy, Jessica, Angela, Andrew and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Trevor, Adrianna, Jacob and Emma; nieces and nephews.

A religious service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with the Rev. Craig Zimmerman officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
