Son of William and Shaddie Gill Barnes. Member of Liberty Baptist Church. Husband of Eliza J Hartman, Georgeann Jewell, Anna J. Mills, and Mary Belle Marshall. Father of fifteen children; seven with Eliza, one with Georgeann, and seven with Mary Belle.
Father of Thomas Allen Barnes and grandfather of Frances Barnes Cook, Leslie Barnes, and Myron Dale Barnes.
Obituary, last paragraph: The mortal remains, followed by a large cortege of relatives and friends, were taken to the Adams, Forks of the Creek Cemetery, where the Masonic Order rendered their impressive ritualistic sevices at the open grave, and there they were laid to wait the resurrection morn.
