Blanche Lee Lovett Carter, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winnfield, La.

Mrs. Carter was born in Tide, La on November 7th, 1915 to Della Oakes Lovett and Beauford Bradford Lovett and was a lifelong Louisiana resident. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and grandmother and was much loved by her family and many friends. She was the Atlanta Branch Library librarian for many years and was a long time member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Kisatchie Quilt Guild, to which she contributed her wealth of artistry and talents in needlework and other fine arts. In her later years she enjoyed many trips and activities with her sister and traveling companion, Nolie.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. "Bo" Carter; daughter, Betty Jean Carter Herrmann; mother, Della Oakes Lovett; father, Beauford Bradford Lovett; sisters, Cressie Lovett Ashford, Lessie Lovett Futrell, and Nolie Lovett Fulghum; and brother, Virgil Lovett. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Gresham and husband Thomas and Sharon Yannarella and husband Tom, both of Winnfield and one son, James Carter and wife Mary, of Logansport. She is also survived by two brothers, Doyle Lovett of Micanopy, Florida and Elmer Lovett of Los Angeles, California. She was the loving grandmother of ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and twenty-two great-great grandchildren. She leaves a beautiful and lasting legacy of kindness, gentleness, compassion and love to her children and many, many friends. She was a shining example of faith that held fast in all times and all things. Regardless of circumstances, being in her presence and in her home always brought peace, tranquility and rest - and both she and her life are the finest example of the beautiful words from Corinthians: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 16th, 2012 at Atlanta Baptist Church in Atlanta, Louisiana, with Reverend Ray Teal and Reverend Danny Keyes officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery, Atlanta. Visitation will be at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana on Monday, October 15th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jimmy Carter, Jamie Carter, Richy Carter, Tommy Gresham, Sr., Jason Hawke and Casey Hogg.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Gresham, Jr., Carl Gresham, Tom Yannarella and Thomas Gresham.

The family expresses their grateful appreciation to the staff and administration of Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Winnfield, Louisiana and Professional Hospice Care of Ruston, Louisiana, for their kindness, loving care, and support.
