Thelma Jo (Carter) Gresham, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away August 9th, 2020 following a brief illness.

A private graveside service was held at Atlanta Cemetery on Friday August 14th.

She was born February 26, 1932 to J.L. "Bo" and Blanche (Lovett) Carter. She spent her childhood in the village of Atlanta, LA and later moved to Winnfield after her marriage to her husband Thomas. Jo worked for many years as a medical records professional at Winnfield General Hospital and later as a medical records consultant for senior care facilities throughout the state. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Jo had many and varied talents and interests including oil and watercolor painting, sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and reading. She was also an active member and secretary of a local quilter's club.

If you ask anyone who knew her you will hear attributes such as an unwavering faith in God and her fellow man, charitable to others, unselfish, she seemed be able to find the best in any situation and always thought of others before herself, never a harsh word to anyone, a quick wit and truly loved to laugh. You could always….yes always count on Jo having a smile on her face to greet you.

Mrs. Gresham is survived by her husband Thomas, whom she shared a life of devotion to each other for 71 years, her sons Tommy, and Gary (Dona), her brother James Carter, her sister Sharon (Carter) Yannarella (Tom), 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Jean (Carter) Herrman, her daughter-in-law Barbara (Marks) Gresham, and her great granddaughter Cassidy Gresham.

A public memorial service will be held, at a later date, and open to all who wish to pay their respects.
