Open house will be observed at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Wiggins, route 2, Carrollton honoring their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins were married March 23, 1909 in the parsonage of Mechanicstown Methodist Church with Rev. A. W. Harris officiating. Now members of Harlem Springs Presbyterian Church, they have resided at Scroggsfield the past 50 years. They are parents of five children, Mrs. John Skipman of Canton, Mrs. Andrew Kovach of route 5, Louisville, Mrs. Sal Trainer of Sebring, Mrs. Robert Knox of route 1, Amsterdam and Harold Wiggins of Carrollton. There are 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wiggins is the fourth sister in her family to observe her 50th wedding anniversary. Others are Mrs. Charles Hetherington and Mrs. Pearl Carter of Salineville and Mrs. Edward Earl of Sebring.

George J. Wiggins, 85, of 340 5th Street NW, Carrollton, died Friday at his home following a lengthy illness. A retired farmer, Mr. Wiggins was born November 24, 1881, in Fox Twp., a son of the late John R. and Jennie (Ault) Wiggins. He was a member of United Methodist Church at Harlem Springs.

Mr. Wiggins was married March 23, 1909, to Jessie Toban, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Doris) Shipman of Canton, Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Knox of Harlem Springs and Mrs. Andrew (Dorothy) Kovach of Louisville; a son, Harold G. Wiggins of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lowdermilk of Rt. 2, Carrollton, Mrs. Clara Cogsil of Harlem Springs and Mrs. Anna McLaughlin of Richmond; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Helen Trainer, died in 1963 and there are two brothers and two sisters deceased. Services were held Sunday at the Allmon Funeral Home here with Rev. Eugene Pugh officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery, in Carrollton.
