Ernest was born in 1884 in the city of Nottingham. He was the son of Lewis John Bradshaw and Rosanna Mourn. Ernest married Mabel Gascoigne and they had two children - Constance Ellen Kitty (born in 1910) and Louis Ernest (born in 1913). Ernest worked for Nottingham City Corporation as an Electric Tram Car Conductor, before serving in World War 1, where he was gassed. Upon discharge from military service, the family emigrated to Australia, hoping the warmer climate would help Ernest's medical condition. However, after 14 months, Ernest passed away on 13th June 1921, aged 37 years old. He was buried in the Field of Mars Cemetery, Church of England Section.
