He enlisted on 6 May 1898 in the Spanish American War, and joined as Corporal, Company 1, 1st Texas Infantry Volunteers. Went to Cuba about 22 Dec. 1898, and was discharged 17 April 1899.
He married Pearl Elizabeth Goodson on 12 July 1911. Preceded in death by mother, Marietta (1844-1875). Survived by father James, wife Pearl, and children: Claudie, Maudie, James W., Thomas and Mary Etta Connolly.
Date of interment: 24 November 1926.
