His parents moved from Maine to Minnesota in the 1850s. Obituary states that Chesley was born on Winnebago Prairie, north of Sartell. They resided at Clearwater, Minnesota in 1860 (census). They resided in Stearns County, Brockway and LeSauk Townships in 1870 and 1875. Chesley Doble farmed on the west bank of the Little Rock Creek, near Langola in Benton County. Chesley's farm in Langola township was still his residence at time of death. He died at St. Gabriel's Hospital. Funeral services were held in the Union Church at Rice.
