FUNERAL RITES THURSDAY
FOR PIONEER LAURENS
COUNTY LADY

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary
Ann McLendon, 85, of Rockledge,
Will be held Thursday afternoon at
3 o'clock at Mount Zion Church.
Rev. C. W. Jordan, of Soperton,
will conduct the services, and Sammons
Funeral Parlor will have
charge of interment.
Mrs. McLendon, who was the
wife of the late W. H. McLendon,
passed away at her home yesterday
after a long illness. She
was the mother of several children,
all of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs.
C. B. Smith, of Rockledge, eight
grandchildren, T. H. Beacham,
Brooksville, Fla.; R. H. Beacham,
Jacksonville, Fla.; W. E. Beacham,
Corona, N Y., H. B. Beacham
Rockledge, Mrs. John Wynn, Rockledge;
Mrs. Henry Moore, Rockledge;
Mrs. E. A. Moore, Augusta,
Four nephews, Deputy Sheriff,
D. B. Wilkes, H. H. Wilkes, Ellis
Wilkes, several grandchildren
and many other relatives and
friends.
Mrs. McLendon, was a pioneer
citizen of Laurens County,
the daughter of the late Rev and
Mrs. John Wilkes. She had been
in ill health some time prior to her
death yesterday afternoon.
She was one of eleven surviving
widows of the War Between, The
States in Laurens County.
Honorary pallbearers will be
Clarence Gay, F. B. Flanders
Flucker Maddox, J. I. Maddox, J.
D. Smith, Sr., E. T. Barnes, Dr.
L. I. Lanier, D. A. Autrey. The active
Pallbearers are Edgar Wynn,
Otis Beacham Rhodes Beacham:
