Mr. Stout Dies Here At Age 90

Charles W. Stout, 90, of 820 East Fifth, died Friday evening at his home after an illness of five months.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Geddes Funeral Home, Dr. James S. Chubb, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Born April 28, 1866 in Winston, Mo., Mr. Stout came to Grand Island in 1917. He had been a carman for the Union Pacific until his retirement in 1939, and was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers club.

Mr. Stout was married to Eva Stockstill at Walnut Shade, Mo., April 26, 1891. They had their 65th wedding anniversary April 26, 1956, and were featured in a story in The Daily Independent at that time.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Burl W. Stout, San Francisco; five daughters, Mrs. S. D. Wise, Los Angeles; Mrs. W. R. Hare, Grand Island; Mrs. Avis Herlily, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. W. A. Horstman, Council Bluffs, Ia., and Mrs. M. O. Powers, Grand Island; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
