AN OLD PIONEER PASSES AWAY
Was a Resident of This City Since 1866 -- Died in Omaha
Mrs. Helen Golden, wife of the late Reuben C. Golden, died this morning at an early hour at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Bickel, at Omaha after an illness lasting over some time, which was incident to old age.
The deceased was 86 years of age and well known to all of the people of this vicinity. She was married to Mr. Golden in Missouri, where they resided for a long period of time and came to this city about 1866 and made their home here all of the remaining years.
Her husband died some nine or ten years ago at his home just north of the city and the wife remained on the little farm for a number of years, her son Wayne living with her. She became feeble and went to Omaha to live with her son and daughters, first one and then the other and they saw to it she was given the best of care. She is survived by two daughters and two sons, being Wayne Golden, of this city, John R. Golden, and Mrs. Joseph Hart and Mrs. George Bickel, all of Omaha. She was a devout Christian and a woman highly esteemed by all.
The funeral services will be held in Omaha and the remains arrive here Sunday afternoon [March 24, 1918] at 3:25 o'clock and be taken to Wyuka cemetery where they will be placed to rest by the side of those of her husband.
