Francis Marion (Frank) GOLDEN, Sr. was born on April 25, 1858, in Pettis County, Missouri. He was the son of Reuben Campbell Golden (1836-1909), and Helen Nancy Sitton (1836-1918).

He married Anna SWANSON on January 24, 1884, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They had eight known children together: Wallace Nelson, George Spencer, Reuben Campbell Jr., Francis Marion (Frank), William Lee (Bill), Sarah Anne and two children who died in infancy.

At an early age he moved with his parents to Nebraska City where he lived almost continuously. In his business career he was active in purchasing and barreling apples. He was City District Assessor of the First and Second wards of Nebraska City for some time.

About 1910 his family removed to Wyoming to homestead, but failing health made it impossible for him to continue. The family returned to Nebraska City, while his son, Frank remained on the property to prove up on the claim.

He died on June 24, 1912, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, at the age of 54, of tuberculosis of the bowels. He is buried at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Note: Although his obituary shows his birthplace as Rock Port, Missouri, his marriage record shows his birthplace as Pettis County, Missouri.
