Joseph W. "Bill" McDaniel

Funeral services for Joseph W. "Bill" McDaniel, age 69, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Bill died Sunday, June 4, 1995 at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. He was born April 14, 1926, in Edgemont, S.D., the son of Paul and Ada McDaniel.

Bill was raised on the family homestead in northern Niobrara County. He received most of his education in country schools and graduated from Lusk High School in 1944. At that time he entered the Air Force. He then married Dorothy Rawhouser on June 24, 1944.

He served in the Air Force until he and his family moved back to the Lusk community. At that time he held various jobs until returning to the family ranch. When he finished working on the family ranch, he continued working for various ranches in Niobrara County.

Bill loved the outdoors and spending time with his two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his father, three brothers, Dennis, Pat and Tom, and a special friend, Reuben Boatright.

Survivors include his mother, Ada of Lusk; one daughter, Linda of rural Lusk; one brother, Jack of Miles City, Mont.; four grandchildren, Deb Nelson of Casper, Larry, Greg and Brian Peterson all of Lusk; two great-grandchildren, Kiffany and Chase Nelson both of Casper; plus numerous other relatives and many friends.

For those who wish, memorials to the family will be used to establish a memorial in Bill's name at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D.
