Wife of Clarence E. Cook. Daughter of George W. Lawrence and Emma Alida Couchman

Larned Chronoscope January 6, 1910, p. 1

Sad Death of Mrs. C.E. Cook.
Mrs. Clarence E. Cook died last Friday morning as the result of the accident sustained on Wednesday of last week. She was thrown from a wheat wagon and the wheels ran over her, crushing the right limb.

This fracture in itself was serious but not necessarily dangerous. She was in a delicate condition at the time of the accident, and it was the complications from this cause which resulted in her death. It was thought she was getting along all right (sic) and resting easily, until a sudden change came and she died in a few minutes.

The funeral was held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon two o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. W.B. Barton. The honorary pall bearers were girlfriends of the deceased, some of them members of her graduating class. The church was crowded with friends, who, despite the bitter cold day, gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the dead. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and wreaths. Interment was in the Larned cemetery.

Letha Lawrence was born in this county near Burns' Chapel, March 29, 1890. She was united in marriage with Clarence E. Cook May 26, 1909. She was a graduate of the Larned high school class of 1908.

She was received into the Methodist Church when she was ten years old and was an active Christian, teaching in this Sunday school, and a faithful worker in the Junior League and Epworth League. She was also a member of the church choir, and a willing worker in all departments of church work.

This was one of the saddest deaths which occurred in this community and the hearts of all have been deeply touched. The sincerest sympathy of the community goes out to the sorrowing relatives.
