Clara E. Schweitzer, 79, of 804 Fremont St. Kiel, died Saturday morning Dec. 17, 2005 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton surrounded by her loving family.
She is the former Clara Mahloch, born July 17, 1926 daughter of the late John and Lydia Richter Mahloch. Clara graduated from Ss. Peter and Paul Grade School. She married Robert C. Schweitzer at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel on June 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1993.
Clara was employed at the former Hanson Glove Factory, Chilton Aluminum Specialties, Tecumseh Products and A.A. Laun Furniture in Kiel until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel where she was a member of the Christian Women's Group. Clara was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she was a past president. She enjoyed bowling, sheepshead, gardening, embroidery and knitting.
Survivors include her children, Judith (Ed) Walsdorf, Mary (Bob) Franzen both of Rural New Holstein, Robert C. Jr (Vicky) Schweitzer of Kiel, Jane (Steven) Rautmann of rural Kiel, Jeff Schweitzer of Kiel and Mark (Mary) Schweitzer of Marytown; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She is further survived by a brother, Jacob Mahloch of New Holstein; a sister Elsie Lemke of Chilton; sisters-in-law, Rita Mahloch of New Holstein, Esther Mahloch of Sheboygan Falls, Delores Schweitzer of Elkhart Lake, Bernice Schweitzer of Amberg, Helen Schweitzer of Franksville, Alma Schweitzer of New Holstein, and Armella Walber of New Holstein, and her faithful companion-her dog, "Buttons."
She was preceded in death by five brothers, and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Loren Nys, SDS officiating. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.
