AGNES R. GARBE

Agnes R. Garbe, 82, formerly of 482 Fifth Street, Kiel, died Thursday morning, April 21, 2005 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein surrounded by her family.
She was the former Agnes R. Mahloch, born June 9, 1922 in Kiel, daughter of the late John and Lydia Richter Mahloch. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul School. On June 17, 1939 she married Paul L. Garbe at Ss. Peter and Paul Rectory in Kiel. Paul preceded her in death on July 7, 2001. Agnes worked at the former Kiel Glove Factory and Sharpes Resort in Elkhart Lake for a number of years. She also worked in various homes in the area as a housekeeper and caregiver and a housekeeper at Ss. Peter and Paul Rectory. She was a crossing guard on the former of Fifth and Fremont Street for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Women's Society. She was also a member of the Swamp Edge Homemakers and belonged to various card clubs.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy (Ralph) Manz of Kiel, Virginia (Kenneth) Schneider of Kiel, Rosann Dins of New Holstein and Kathryn (Ernie Jr.) Dyer of New Holstein; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and six great great grand-children. She is further survived by two sisters, Clara Schweitzer of Kiel and Elsie Lemke of Chilton; one brother, Jacob Mahloch of New Holstein, Three sisters-in-law, Rita Mahloch of Kiel, Esther Mahloch of Sheboygan Falls and Lucille Garbe of Denmark; and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Bignell, one son, Paul R. Garbe, Jr., four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral Mass will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys SDS officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
