Elinor (Block) Sukup daughter of August Fred and Bessie M.(Buxton) Block was born on September 6, 1927 in Venus, NE. Elinor died Friday June 24, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
Elinor attended elementary school at Pleasant Hill #59 and Midway School District #125. She graduated from Creighton (NE.) High School and taught school two years at the Walnut Grove (NE.) School District #62.
On August 26, 1945, Elinor married Leo Sukup, and they lived on the family farm for 52 years. They had a fertilizer business where they sold liquid fertilizer for 25 years. They were members of the American Angus Association and held Production Sales. They were parents of two children, Karen and Lyle.
Elinor was a member of an Extension Club, Anniversary Club, and Just So Busy Club. She was also a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and Altar Society. After Leos illness they moved into Verdigre, NE. in March of 1996. After Leo passed away in February of 1997, Elinor continued to make her home in Verdigre, NE.
Elinor is survived by: daughter, Karen Hanson; son, Lyle Sukup; grandchildren, Jason Hanson, Jamie Johnson, Jon Hanson, Devin Sukup, and Kassy Hampton; great grandchildren, Myranda and Elliott Hanson, and Ella and Lila Johnson; sisters; Elaine Mott and Lorene Kinnison; sister-in-laws, Eva Mule and Jackie Block.
Elinor was preceded in death by: husband, Leo Sukup; parents, August and Bessie Block; brother, Gordon Block and a nephew, Paul Kinnison.
