C. Burr Shelden, 67, died Monday, July 8, 1957 at Memorial hospital after an extended illness. He was the son of Reuben and Phoebe Shelden. He was united in marriage with Pearl Culvan and two sons were born to this union, Bill and Dick. His wife and son, Dick, preceded him in death. In 1920 he was united in marriage with Myrtle Smith and to this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. His second wife also preceded him in death. In 1921 they came to Douglas, homesteading north of town. Since 1936 he had lived in and around Douglas. Surviving are three brothers, Leonard of Douglas, Roy of Baywood, Cal. and Guy of Mount Ayr, Iowa; two sisters, Annie Carse and Myrna Smith, both of Omaha, Neb; three sons, Bill of Oregon, Buck of Douglas and Pete of Ft. Hood, Tex.; six daughters, Viola Hatfield of Kentucky, Helen Metz of Midwest, Kelly Napolitano of New York; Ruby Metcalf of Worland and Dorothy Barna of Omaha, Neb.; 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
