Obituary
Mrs. Victoria Dix, 93, passed away Tuesday, May 28, at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Villwock Funeral Chapel in Grey Eagle, Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. and interment in Moses Dane Cemetery at Burtrum.
Victoria Smyth was born in Holdingford, Minn., March 29 1875, to Alfred and Elizabeth Smyth. On October 7, 1894 she married to John Dix at Burtrum. Except for brief intervals she resided there from the time of her marriage until her death. She was 93 years last March, the span of almost a century.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, an infant son, Harvey, and a daughter, Mildred. Surviving her is a son, Dewey of Burtrum and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church the last few years and loved to read the Bible and hear it read and practiced a Christian life as she understood it. She was a friend to all and loved by all who knew her. About two years ago she had the misfortune to fracture her hip and had been a semi-invalid since.
Except for a short time spent in the St. Cloud and Long Prairie hospitals and the Memorial Rest Home in Long Prairie she was lovingly cared for in her home by her son, Dewey.
Pallbearers were: Christ Erickson, Ted Williams, Howard Keller, Fred Lambrecht, Harold Allen and Frank Norris.
Friends and relatives from Grey Eagle, Glenwood, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Eagle Bend, and Clear Lake attended the funeral.
