Leo C. Hevern, 78, died Thursday at the Roberts Rest Home following a long illness.

Mr. Hevern was born in Iowa and spent his childhood there. He worked in that state as a fanner for several years, and came to Oakland in 1941. He worked as a production worker for General Motors Corporation for 27 years.
He had been a resident of Napa for seven years.

He is survived by his wife, Alma of Napa; four daughters, Marilyn Batcher of Napa, Patricia Ryun of Lompoc, Sandra Haggart of Jackson, and Shirley Gentry of Emmetsburg, Iowa; four brothers, Edward of San Leandro, James and William of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Francis of Mill Valley; and seven grandchildren.

A Catholic prayer service will be held at 2: 30 p.m. Saturday at the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Tulocay Cemetery. Monsignor Vincent Fleming will officiate.
