Doris N. Hockensmith, 90, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She was the wife of Peter J. Hockensmith, who died April 20, 1993. Born October 12, 1916, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Noel. Mrs. Hockensmith was retired from Black and Decker in Hampstead, Md. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown and the McSherrystown Senior Center. Mrs. Hockensmith is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Harold, and Harry; and by a sister, Helena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Doris to the Annunciation Church Memorial Fund, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, PA 17344; or to the Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
