According to his obit in the Lexington Herald-Leader on Friday August 6, 1999, Carey "accepted Christ on Oct. 23, 1932. He served as a deacon for 55 years & Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. He was employed & retired from Lexington Theological Seminary after 36 years. He was united in marriage to the late Georgianna Henderson on March 7, 1928. Through this union they had a son, George W Carter. He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law Lola M Carter; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren & 4 great-great-grandchildren.
