Leon had worked at the Moline Consumers facility on River Drive in Moline,IL. Later, he found employment at the old John Deere Foundry in East Moline, IL. I remember my grandpa coming home from the John Deere Foundy with his black lunch box in his hand. I looked for him everyday to come down 12th avenue in East Moline, IL as he walked home. There was a very loud whistle that blew every weekday at 3:30 p.m. and I knew grandpa would be coming home soon. Leon always maintained a huge garden and worked hard for his family. He was an experienced carpenter who also built all of his kitchen cabinets at his residence of 1511 12th Avenue, East Moline, Illinois.
