Birth: 7th of ten known children in Hardin county, Iowa.

Margaret Manora Boylan (b. 1867, Hubbard, Iowa; d 1963, Carthage, Missouri) served as Director of Music and Reading. Before beginning a career of teaching on the faculties of several colleges throughout the country, she had attended summer school at Ginn summer school in Chicago, New England Conservatory("NEC"),[17] and Teachers College, Columbia University.[18] And, she was a published composer.
At the NEC, she had studied three semesters from 1901 to 1902. At NEC, she studied piano with Edward Danforth Hale(1859–1945) and voice with William L. Whitney (1861–1949) and Alena G. Emerson. She took both piano and voice for all three semesters. In addition she took two semesters of Harmony with Harry Newton Redman (1869–1958) and two semesters of Music in Public School with Samuel Winkley Cole (1848–1926). She did not earn a diploma from NEC.
At Teachers College, she received a Departmental Certificate in Music Education on November 25, 1915. She also took a couple of classes.

Census: 1880, age 12 Tipton township, Hardin county, Iowa with parents & eight siblings, father a blacksmith and a 1857 pioneer to the area.

Census: 1900, age 32 Tipton township, Hardin county, Iowa with parents & five siblings.

Census: 1910, age 52(sic) Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri in brother William's household at 4019 Woodland avenue, teacher.

Census: 1930, age 62 Eldora, Hardin county, Iowa in brother William's household with youngest sister 905 12th street, a teacher.

Census: 1940, age 72 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri in brother William's household with youngest sister at 530 east Highland avenue, a teacher, same in 1935.

She lived in Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri and wrote at least one book The Crag Rat, copyrighted 13 February 1933, lived with brother William at 818 Clinton street at his 1943 death and was living with sister Daisey at 1101 Jersey street at Daisey's 1958 death. Margaret then lived another five years in Carthage. An auntie to husband of Helen Elizabeth (Spradling) Boylan who was raised in and buried at Carthage.

A twenty inch newspaper article in Carthage Evening Press, December 11, 1957, on her ninetieth birthday, told of her ninety year life's brilliant career, she died six years later in Carthage, burial with parents, paternal grandfather and some siblings at her Iowa birth site on which Boylan cemetery exists, oldest cemetery within Tipton township.

Death: at age ninety-six, location reportedly in Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri.

Mother: Susanna Catherine Balmer b: 6 NOV 1832 Wildenswyl, Switzerland.
