Gloria, a lifelong resident of the Española Valley, was predeceased by her parents Alfredo and Rosanna Sanchez.

Gloria was survived by her husband of 48 years, Gilbert Herrera; 3 sons: Craig (wife Emily), Gary (wife Molly), and Gilbert Jr.; 2 daughters: Yvonne Montoya (husband Edward) and Rose Ann Maestas (husband Tim); 2 sisters: Maria Maestas and Naomi Ortiz; 2 brothers: Jerome Sanchez and Kenneth Sanchez; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and other relatives.

Gloria operated as day care center out of her home for 30 years. After closing it, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Española Schools. She was a member of El Buen Pastor Church, a Sunday school teacher, a regular visitor at hacienda de Salud Nursing Home, and an arts and crafts instructor for the missionette program. She enjoyed crocheting blankets, reading long novels, and taking naps with her companion a gray miniature Schnauzer Sara. One of her greatest joys was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lloyd and Lita Herrera and their son Adan, Adam Herrera, Andrea Maestas, Lynette maestas, Alfredo Herrera, Angelica Maestas, Ricardo Herrera and his son Rico, Joey Maestas, Rocky Herrera, Reyna Herrera, Rodney and Rose Montoya and their daughters: Brianna and Delanie, and Daniel Montoya.

A memorial service was held at El Buen Pastor Church.
